Reflections Year 2015

My end of year 2015 thoughts made me realize that I am a stronger, healthier, and in many ways, women's I knew that was 12 months ago. Looking ahead to 2016, the first thing I wanted to take time to reflect on 2015. It was a really amazing year and do not want to discount how far we have come these past 12 months.

The week between Christmas and New Year is probably one of my favorite weeks of the year. It is a week of reflection, planning and organization. Three of my favorite things! Sometimes it is easier to focus on all the things you want to change in the new year, which is not bad, but it can make you feel defeated. Sure I have things I want to focus on in 2016, but do not want to forget everything I achieved last year.

At 3 months after birth, about to return to work after childbirth full time, I was desperate to order. 2015 began with a lot of structure, too much structure to be honest. I was very organized and years created new goals structure in mind. My home life was structured, my workouts were structured my food prep was divided, my diet was structured, and my work is structured. Looking back at the beginning of 2015 was very difficult. The structure gave me a false sense of how I really felt and where my life really was. Those months taught me I had to let go and be fine with just getting by. Breastfeeding, pumping, working full time and raising a newborn off, I do not have to have everything so well.

Meal Prep Monday
As I moved through April 2015 I reached my breaking point. I was working out a lot, counting my macros religiously, weighing everything he ate, entering a new role at work, and realizing that I could not do everything. I had put too much pressure on myself and I was running myself into the ground. Where they had gone months? How was my daughter and 6 months of age? Why he was so consumed with the diet? It was enough. I was scared, but I knew I had to break with the structure that had given me a false sense of how I was actually doing. I left to follow a structured diet plan did take another summer without scales, I started playing full contact football again, and enjoyed every minute last summer with my family. I learned to let go and I ended up finding me (and kicked a lot of ass on the football field).

DC Divas
By the first birthday magnolia, I had found my rhythm. I had reached my weight before pregnancy, without following a structured diet plan, found a new workout to push me out of my comfort zone (OrangeTheory), and somehow had managed to stop drinking coffee. My goal was never to stop coffee, but after doing a juice cleanse in July, I realized how dependent I was in the coffee / caffeine. It was so liberating to sleep when tired, instead of burning the midnight oil in order to do more. I stopped take work home, I started blogging less, and began to focus on my whole being.

Neal and Ashley
In the last months of 2015 have focused on force. Mental, physical and emotional strength. Buying a home in late 2015 was amazing but sucks the life out of me. I was emotionally exhausted by the time it had shut in our house, but I refueled almost instantly by the joy of stability. We had bought a house and for the first time in my life, it would be able to settle. We did it through our movements and have enjoyed every minute in our new home, including Christmas.

Magnolia
2015 helped me to find myself. I new me. Having Magnolia was the greatest blessing I could have asked for and took time to redefine myself after becoming a mom. This year I learned that I have to stop putting so much pressure on myself and I have to have confidence in what I am. This year I realized how much the past I've been holding a. It's time to let go and look forward.

Autumn Walk
I am very grateful for this past year and the woman I am today. It was a year filled with many memories and I am grateful for another year of blogging here on coffee cake and Cardio. It helps to look back on the year and to see everything I've shared. As I close out 2015 and back in the last 365 days I can not help but be grateful. It was a really wonderful year!

Here are some of my favorite entries 2015.

gear favorite baby 0-3 months
Crockpot Buffalo chicken soup
