Messy ... Literally !!!
A friend of mine recently posted on their social media pages "Having a 2 year old is like having a blender at full speed - no cap" and going by the number of likes, comments and answers that have already received your message in particular it is that many agree a mother !!! In my opinion, she could not have described it better ... .Yes, it can be quite messy! Literally !!!
Case in point - I recently repainted the walls of my living room. The perfect combination of chocolate and cream ... I imagined this for quite a long time, and to finally be able to put my thoughts into action was very satisfying.
So you can imagine my dismay when I got home a good evening only to find my beautiful walls of the room curiously decorated in black ... with a permanent marker !! And let's not talk about my dining room table!
I did not want to ask where the nanny Nyakio was when this happened, because as we all know, these kids can move at high speed from one end of the wall to another and in the blink of an eye , dramatic things like this happen.
Moving away from my wall and tables ... ..how many "accidents" have had to potty training? As in all? In my carpet, my comforter, quilt Tumiso, Yaani ... sometimes all that comes to mind are the words of my good friend who came home to a beautiful mess in your kitchen pantry, courtesy of your child cute little and wondered aloud: "is the Lord test me ??"
Here's the thing, though; not that I have not been through this before, it is absolutely necessary! And frankly, Tumiso was more of an "artist" than her sister.
But if this is a test, then, I think I've been going one step at a time, one day at a time. And when I think, the only way to succeed is I'm by:
One :. Reminding myself to be patient with her - She is only 2.5 years, there is a lot you need to learn, and learn that only constant, quiet and persistent direction contained in love, not in anger
Two, giving your options - This was really important to me, especially for my walls! All you really want to do is color. So each time indicating that she would like color, I always say "no on the walls of the mummies, in this role," ... and she seems to understand now. Telling him not to write on the walls of the mummies without giving an option only frustrated, and his spear in a setting mourn ... that frankly, I want to avoid.
Three: praise and reward her when she does the right thing - Children are like us ... when we do good, it feels good when someone recognizes and appreciates our efforts, right? It looks that nice warm feeling you get when someone praises for a job well done? Especially someone whose opinion is important? Like his boss, perhaps?
Imagine your little person feels the same way when things are done well, and that his mother, the most important in your life, notices, praise and reward individual. She can not consistently get good at first, but do not get tired ... .always focus on when the baby does well. Not only will you be helping them learn important skills, but focusing on the positive, you will also instill a sense of confidence and self-esteem in this important formative stage.
