The evolution of the Eames
Charles and Ray Eames are not necessarily household names, but they certainly are their inventions.
The couple is responsible for many of the inventions we now take for granted. If you've ever broken a member, you can thank the Eames for being the first to mass produce the splint that helped heal. If you've ever kicked back in his chair and put your feet on an ottoman, you can thank the Eames to send you such comfort. And if ever stuck trying to figure out one of those quirky puzzle toy "mind" which receives at its average each year, you can thank the Eames to-good, invent something so frustrating.
Before they met, Charles studied architecture at the University of Washington. Later he teamed up with Charles Gray released a study of architecture, and would go on to teach industrial design at Cranbrook Academy of Art.
There he would meet the woman who would become his wife and partner, Bernice Alexandra Kaiser.
Together, the Eames developed a molding machine called "The Kazam!" This would be the basis of its future mass production of furniture and other products plywood, aluminum, and more.
From there, the inventions of the Eames were presented at the Museum of Modern Art, where some of his work could find a permanent home.
in 1964, Charles and Ray were responsible for designing the IBM Pavilion at the World's Fair in New York.
