Today, many people are sitting at their posts of work. Also, students are sitting for long periods of time in the library studying. This may seem a harmless task, but most people do not know that being too long is bad for you. Sitting too long without breaks can lead to the formation of blood clots in the legs (deep vein thrombosis or DVT), which can be fatal. This can lead to such things as strokes, heart attacks, chest pain and even leg amputation. For this reason, I would encourage everyone today to reduce their time to sit and take breaks from time to time to walk around the room for a couple of minutes. Cause:
Clot formation : Basically, when you sit in the long run the blood begins to accumulate in the legs and not moving both (also known as venostasis). As a result, the blood collected is at a greater risk of developing a clot. Development of a clot can lead to other problems mentioned below and more.
amputation :. If that clot spread in other areas of your leg and legs can not get enough oxygen because blood vessels are blocked by a clot that could cause death in the limb
Career :. If that same clot that developed in the leg breaks off and travels to the vessels in the head that can stop the flow of blood to your brain that leads to less oxygen and can cause a stroke
chest pain :. The clot can travel to the lungs causing chest pain
Myocardial infarction :. If the clot travels to the blood vessels that supply the heart with oxygen, it can begin to feel the symptoms of a heart attack
How to prevent:
- take breaks in long sessions to be
- By taking a walk break a whole little
- Try to exercise regularly ~ 150 min / week at least
- eat foods with less fat bad (you can accumulate plaque in blood vessels)
- Stop Smoking!
- Consult your pharmacist or doctor about other ways to prevent or detect symptoms of a clot
