Boxing is therapy I've been waiting for
As someone who can not stand violent TV shows or movies (without game of Thrones for me!) and will not even read violent books (sorry, hunger games ), my friends and family were quite surprised I chased him enthusiastically boxing .
This search began just a couple of short weeks in Hit Fit boxing gym in San Francisco . With a free beginners class for first, my barrier to entry was low -... But I had the feeling that I love (so much so I bought a pink gloves before even setting foot in the gym was excited a euphemism).

Simple Not Easy
The class started with a jump rope - sounds simple, right? And totally non-violent. "Great," I thought. "Cardio class simple to get going. It is so holistic" INCORRECT. It IS NOT SIMPLE. It has yet to feel physically unsuited as I did at the time that a jump rope around my body and flapped around while stumbling several times, trying to jump rope in unison with classmates. I'm hoping you get control of my body and the rope soon, because it seems that all sessions begin with skipping rope.
Form is all
For the bulk of the class, we learned, focused on, and refined our form. Due to the intense nature of sport and exercise, learning proper form is so incredibly important for injury prevention . How many times have you gone to a new class, dynamic, not knowing the proper way and hurt yourself? And when was the last time a workout you should take a beginner's class and learn the proper way before they jumped into group fitness?
This was probably my favorite part of boxing so far, and what I most appreciated :. The attention to how to ensure that each participant in the class was safely protected from injury and get the best possible training
is like a dance
Something I appreciated about boxing was how similar it is to the choreography. The coach calls out the numbers indicating which punch is thrown, similarly to how a dance choreographer or call eight counts teacher who will guide you through a dance. There are movements, and there is a right way and a wrong way to do each - as mentioned, form is everything. Posture is important and muscle memory plays a big role. Even footwork felt like a dance, especially with social work, step by step and rotating in sync.
is a killer workout
Besides being really excellent cardiovascular workout, boxing gave me pain in places that normally do not feel post-workout. Keep your firm core and centered stance squat and works the abs and buttocks, while fast jumps and leaps works the legs, and punches (naturally) work your arms, core, back - legs, even as it you are feeding some of these spear through the feet and hips.

In beginner classes, you're not in the ring (to be honest, I do not know if I want to be in the ring ... I will keep you informed). This Train
The bag was my safe place and my place to let out all those emotions he was keeping - it felt pretty amazing and empowering violently. It is one of those classes that out and really felt strong (Aaaand perhaps as a bit of a tough guy). I have both of my system and I felt a little lighter as he left the gym and went about the rest of my day. You can bet that my pink Everlast gloves color and I will be back for many more rounds. * Ding! *
