5 Tips to Help Manage Emotional Eating

I can say unequivocally that I am a binge eater in remission. This is a big statement for me, both because it is recognized that it had a serious problem with my relationship with food and I have worked very hard to change in the last 18 months.

How did I eat for entertainment, bingeing out of boredom, I bite to self-soothe and overeating to manage my depression? It was not easy and does not work 100% of the time, but in the last year I have developed these 5 tips to help manage the emotions that often send me head to junk food.

# 1 Recognize that no person has the right to make you feel bad about yourself.

There are times when people are rude, people are bad, people are brutally honest (emphasis in BRUTAL) and confuse honesty for goodness. In those moments, I have to take a good look at myself and "consider the source." My aunt who spent-and-talking about my previous weight? She has been unhappy since the 1960s and nothing, not even tv color, you could change that. My colleague who constantly talks to me? She has more problems than a soap opera, and none of them is mine. My friend who thought being blunt and brutally honest was fine because we're friends? Their misery does not need my company. It may sound defensive, but are not protected from unnecessary feelings of pain and unjustified worth playing some D?

No. 2 engage in positive self-talk and work to increase their self-esteem on your own!

getting thinner or happier for someone else never seems to last, but what is past when we engage in the change of overcoming, by ourselves! Be patient and speak kindly to himself. Be your own cheering section, and celebrate the big (and small) achievements of each day! Today I celebrated the election of fruit on fruit pies, and tomorrow I will return to celebrate BootCamp after the holidays. I also spend time each morning reading BRIGHT text that includes a daily positive affirmations, suggestions of steps you can take to better yourself, and some pretty funny pictures, too! You want to get some shine by itself? Click here to enroll today! 11PM to say he was coming home. He suggested instead of returning home to lie awake about the details, to go find a race of half an hour. The race worked out great, I was relieved of my stress and I slept soundly for the first time in a week.

For others, who write and blog about their emotions. I know someone who took piano lessons to avoid stress. My mother plays sodoku to calm your mind, and my aunts either paint or fabric to keep your mind at ease and your hands too busy for a snack! The point is to find something that will help release your emotions, which are not suppress them with food.

What about you? What it is done to prevent stress eating, compulsive eating or using foods other than fuel?
