Sunny and Cherie
Sunny met in September 2015 in the program of intensive dietary treatment. Sunny, 51 had been diagnosed as type 2 diabetics since the mid-1990s, when he was only about 30 years. Initially it started in the diabetes drug metformin. Over the years, more and more drugs are required to control their blood sugar. By 2011 he was prescribed insulin. The moment I saw him, he was taking maximum doses of metformin, in addition to the injection of 70 units of insulin every day.
Despite this large dose of medication their sugars were still sub-optimally controlled with a hemoglobin A1C of 7.2%. This blood represents the mean of three months blood sugar. The optimal control is defined as less than 7.0%, although many doctors recommend getting the A1C to less than 6.5%.
Sunny IDM participated in our program from October 2 nd , 2015. switched to a diet low in refined carbohydrates and rich in natural fats. In addition, we asked the fast three days a week for 36-42 hours each. If finished dinner on Day 1, he would not eat again until lunch on Day 3.
Your blood sugar immediately improved. In a short two weeks, all your insulin was suspended. A month after that, we stop all diabetes medications altogether. He has maintained from normal blood sugar without any medication and managed entirely by dietary measures.
During the Christmas holiday period, which, like many patients in our program did gain weight and your blood sugar itself increased slightly. However, with the resumption of their diet and intermittent fasting, reduced weight and blood sugars and that do not require medication.
In March 2016, his weight had stabilized and body mass index was only 18.5. He does not need any more weight loss, so their fasting regimen was reduced to 24 hours of fasting three times a week as maintenance. Of course, if I had dietary indiscretions or if your blood sugar or weight began to rise, which could easily increase his fast again as needed.
More importantly, your waist size dropped dramatically. The waist size is a good reflection of the fat that is worn around the abdominal organs. This more accurately reflects the metabolic state of the body. Measures of waist size as the waist / hip ratio or waist / height are considered better predictors of health than body weight simple relationship.
More surprisingly, their kidney function started to improve. When he started, he was pouring a small amount of protein in the urine. His microalbumin / creatinine ratio was 13.8, well above the normal limit of 2.0. This protein in the urine is the first sign of diabetic kidney damage and often considered irreversible, such as type 2 diabetes itself is considered irreversible. In November, protein excretion in the urine was reduced to 0.4, well within the normal range, where it has remained ever since.
Sunny remarkable feeling well throughout the trip. He had no trouble keeping your low-carb diet or intermittent fasting protocols. He had been injecting himself twice a day for five years and taking medication for diabetes for over twenty years. Now that was free of this terrible disease within a few months of proper diet and the addition of intermittent fasting. Sugar levels now classified as pre-diabetic, nondiabetic of right. His illness was reversed
But that is not the end of the story.
Cherie
In January 2016, Cherie, Sunny older sister was surprised at how well he was doing his younger brother. His weight was down. His waist size was reduced. He had stopped all medications for diabetes. Even found that changing lifestyle very difficult. His 20 years of diabetes were reversed almost overnight. Cherie wanted in.
Cherie was 55 years old and had been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes seven years ago at age 48. Again, his story was similar to that of his brother. She had started with a small dose of a single drug for diabetes. Over the years, your medicine pile had grown slowly. Now she was taking three medications for diabetes, along with a cholesterol medication, blood pressure medication, and something for heartburn too.
We have discussed the situation and together we decided on a diet plan for her. She would change to a diet low in refined carbohydrates and natural fats rich in carbon. She was a little less sure how it would feel when fasting, so we decided on a fasting period of 24 hours three times a week. His diabetes was not as serious as his brother, and she could always increase his fast if necessary, but to start, she would only do 24 hours at a time.
She began our program in February 2016. Its sugar levels responded immediately. Within two weeks, she had left her three medications for diabetes because they were no longer needed. Sugar levels are constantly measured now in the normal range. His weight began a steady decline, like your waist size.
Your heartburn disappeared so your heartburn medication stopped. Your blood pressure normalized, so he stopped his medication for blood pressure. Your cholesterol levels were improved so they stopped their cholesterol drugs. Within a month, he stopped six of medications, however, his blood was better than ever. His hemoglobin A1C of 6.2% was better than when she was taking three medications for diabetes. She was no longer considered diabetic, only pre-diabetic. This meant that his illness was investing.
Moreover, he felt very well throughout this process. She had no problem with fasting protocol. While your fasting period was shorter, still it is achieving excellent results so there was no need to change it. She had been taking medication six at first. Now she was in none, and feel a hundred times better.
This illustrates an important point. Type 2 diabetes is a disease in the diet. As such, the only logical treatment is to fix that diet and lifestyle. If the problem is excessive consumption of carbohydrates, then reducing carbohydrates is the answer. If the problem is excess weight, weight loss, then success with fasting is the answer. Once you solve the underlying problem, disease is reversed.
However, we have been brainwashed to believe that type 2 diabetes and all its complications are inevitable. We have been deceived into believing that we can successfully treat a disease of diet with increasing doses of drugs. When drugs do not end diabetes, we are told that the disease is chronic and progressive.
Sunny had more than 20 years of type 2 diabetes, however, successfully managed to reverse their disease within months. Cherie had seven years of diabetes medications, and also successfully invested disease in a few months. But they are not anomalies. Almost every day I go into the IDM program, I meet people of all ages who have been revoked or are reversing their type 2 diabetes
