Want to know how I grow hair? Inside tips!

I get batch questions about my hair. I have been natural, since 2009 and, when stretched, my hair goes up past my waist. If I had to straighten it at this time, I am convinced that it would take me two days to get through it. Oh my God.

this was taken just a couple weeks ago!

This was taken just a couple of weeks ago!

But I am constantly Fielding questions about my hair, and I do not care! I am aware that, when I put my hair, which is essentially broadcasting me myself as a pro-natural, an ambassador of twists and coils of all kinds. If nothing else, I have a good understanding of what it means to grow thick and healthy hair.

Do not ask how style, however. I'm #LazyNaturals Team. And by damn sure I'm not sleeping in Bantu knots just to get a curly fro in the morning. I need my sleep more than I need that cute curl.

I wanted to compile a blog post with answers to the most frequently asked questions I get from my hair, so I would have a clear place to direct people who want to know my side to side. Nothing fancy, nothing spectacular, just all the understanding that I have to share about the health of hair, hoping that yours may be poppin ', too!

(One day, I'll Ed to take a picture of fancy pants to put on this blog, so I can have more than autofotos to share!)

1) what are you do for hair?

Seriously, it's more about what I am not doing it. I Never I style my hair when dry. That is, Never . I also do not straighten or use a hair dryer to it, rather than opt for a towel drying when necessary. My hair is not very porous and most of the water literally only found on the outside of my threads, so a few strokes of the towel and I'm fine. I am very careful and strategic with detangling do with your fingers first, then with my paddle brush. I have no use of a comb and I have not used one myself in years, opting to part my hair with your fingers in place.

These two options here, reducing heat and untangled and hair care, are enough to stop a good third of all break. I have rarely split ends, although I put a little knot in my purposes, but an adjustment once or twice a year takes care of that for me.

2) How often do you wash?

Usually rinse hair at least 3 times a week, almost every other day, and dry with a towel when you do. When I'm not stuck at home with the little that can go up to as much as five times a week, and that's really ideal for me, I have hair that is not very porous at all, so they are good regular mouthwashes for me . I shampooed perhaps 3-5 times per month, however, do not use a lot of products on the hair, and I'll take the random style to a minimum, so it does not have much sense in using a band shampoo so often. What's more, shampoos often only end caking more clutter in my hair I really do not need. No thanks.

In addition, I mix a bottle empty spray with 3 parts water to one part vinegar apple cider and spray my hair with it to remove any caked up things . It functions as a blend of natural clarification, and my hair feels not only soft, but is better able to absorb moisture after to help stay smooth. I once every two months or so, or whenever hair starts looking dry even after so properly hydrated. That's a good sign that I waste all things hydration, so that vinegar helps to clarify it off.

3) What are you using it?

When I'm in the gym, I'm using coconut oil shampoo and conditioner Kiehl Formula 109. That's the stuff my offers gym, and is free.

Remember, I'm cheap. As well? It's damn good.

When I'm home, I use coconut shampoo Shea moisture and hibiscus copped Walgreens when it was buy one get one free. I also use castor oil leave-in conditioner for my hair style after rinse.

also have a hair "fat" home which is quite similar to Mimosa Hair Honey daughter of Carol I use for my scalp and ends every time you touch me or braid. And when I'm out of it because everyone in my family has natural hair (or a huge beard that uses about the same amount of my stuff like me), I just go with regular "coconut oil ol.

When it comes to keep hydrated my hair, usually adhere to a rule. Rinse with a liquid, spray with conditioner, with a little oil. regardless of the brand, if I stay with that system, which tend to do well.

4) How it is used to work sprout and i, hitting the road

depends of the workout. If I'm practicing yoga, I carry it in two braids on either side of the head (as pictured), or PIN turns me for the scalp to keep it out of the way. I do not want buns or knots that interfere with me being able to focus 100% on any part of my practice or cause pain while I'm in the middle of something.

If I'm running, I'm all about the bun. I'm lazy, and I'll probably be washing shortly after that, so I just put in a careless knot with a ribbon wrapped around my edges with a little coconut or castor oil.

If I'm up, I make sure it is at the top of my head and out of the way.

The general point here is to ensure that there is no interference with my training. The more out of the way I can put my hair, the better.

5) Do you have style protection?

I guess it depends on how you define "style of protection." Should I wear fabrics or wigs? No. I have no patience to sit down and get them done, and I have the patience to deal with hair so high maintenance. I wear braids fake hair? No. Again, patience. I considered getting braids in box with silver tips when she was pregnant, but then I remembered that have higher maintenance than I am already, and decided not to.

I took the bread from the top, but I'm likely to stop doing that Sprout now because baby has this strange habit of rubbing the forehead and the hairline, and is screwed with my edges. I can not have that. It's bad enough that my eyebrows are so messed overtweezing in my 20 years. I can not be here with wild eyebrows without edges.

I would not use any style that would prevent me wash your hair frequently. I also would not wear a hairstyle that resulted in steady and consistent pulling and pulling my hair. I absolutely not wear any hairstyle that did both.

Everything I do my hair is designed to be able to be undone in 10 minutes or less, preferably in the shower because remember? 'Do not mess with my hair when dry.

6) What is your secret?

Collard greens and avocado and water. Not seriously.

I know that many women swear by supplements and special sulfur compounds and eye of newt and chicken blood to grow hair, but here's the thing: all the things your body needs to produce healthy hair (and healthy skin and nails, too) are found in kale, which are quite possibly the most nutritious meal of nature. ( Therefore, the next time you throw shade on your pot of kale and Hamhock Meemaw, remember: in that pot is all you ever needed to thrive .)

told me about this in my blog about loose skin , but vitamins that contribute to healthy blood flow and healthy hair, skin and nails growth vitamins a, E, and K-are available in abundance in dark green vegetables and green leaves as greens (collard, mustard, turnip and beet greens), broccoli, kale and spinach. Vitamins are better absorbed when consumed with dietary fat, so adding different fat sources such as avocado, peanut butter or any type of oil such as peanut, sesame or olive is the best option.

Why is water important? The chances of survival are nutrients through your body the way they should if you're not drinking enough water. I know it's important for several reasons beyond just the hair, but if your goal is to grow your hair out healthily and reduce the damage, hydration counts.

There are women who have experienced great rewards of taking supplements, but there is no supplement that will provide the type and quality of nutrients that a proper diet CAN. Real talk.

7) Do you feel any spill after he stopped taking your prenatal vitamins?

Yes, but it was minor. Often what happens is the sudden drop off of nutrients in the body results in breakage and detachment of mass, so finding other ways to get the nutrients and keep them in your daily diet makes a positive difference. I have gradually reduced the number of pills that I took every day, my particular prenatal pill was 3 times a day to once and increased the amount of dark green and leafy eating every time. Because I make sure to include vegetables in every day, it was quite easy for me.

The things that make the biggest difference in my hair growth?

  1. drink plenty of water regularly
  2. green leafy vegetables-y-
  3. un-good guacamole, lots of perhaps had no guacamole, but healthy dietary fats
  4. rinse hair well frequency
  5. keep hair hydrated often
  6. skip as many hair styles tight-pull as possible
  7. paddle brush and finger combing
  8. care untangle
  9. Do not mess with him when dry
  10. not really mess with it at all

Coma vegetables and leave hair alone, and see-it'll grow like roses!

Become questions! If I missed something, let me know and I'll include it!
