sedentary lifestyle

In our last blog we discuss the different states of physical / lifestyle activity and our calorie intake should be equal to the level of physical activity. Today most of us city dwellers in office works fall into the category of style "sedentary" life. In fact, not only adults but also children are becoming more and more physically inactive thanks to smartphones, iPads, televisions, etc. These lifestyle changes have adverse health effects.

At rest, the organs of the body require an essential amount of energy for the vital operation is known as the basal metabolic rate (BMR). Every movement, action, and gesture entails an additional cost of energy. The more active you are the more energy we spend.

health risks of being too long

Sitting is becoming a normal routine for most people through the age groups. Infants / babies are made to sit in front of the TV or the iPad for parents to get some free time, children spend more time watching television and appliances, young people are sitting at work-desks and then pizzas in front of the television and so are all the other office work.

long periods of inactivity are linked to obesity, but this relationship is complex. Many studies have found that young people who watch more TV have higher dietary intakes of energy, through the consumption of food and beverages rich in energy while watching TV, or this could be due to advertising or psychosocial effects.

The American Academy of Pediatrics has recommended a restriction on the use of screen-based media for children and adolescents 1-2 hours per day, and to remove media from viewing bedrooms .such may displace other interactive activities crucial for natural development, and is therefore ill-advised for children under two years.

These adverse health effects may be why sedentary behavior is associated with an increased risk of metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, certain cancers and mortality from all causes in adults, and markers adolescents.Inactivity CVD is also known to disturb bone mineralization, reduce bone density (which increases the risk of osteoporosis), and possibly cause deep vein thrombosis and muscular discomfort such as back pain.

Stand up, move more, more often

Take short breaks from sedentary activities can go a long way in preventing diseases. It could be simple activities like standing up while talking on the phone, walking at a normal pace for 2-5 minutes every hour (for example, to get a drink or talk to a colleague), etc.

A variety of actions carried out by us can help stimulate metabolism. Body postures change from one to another is beneficial. Even changing from a sitting to a standing position is believed to activate important, such as those involved in fat metabolism beneficial processes.

Unfortunately, with technological advances, human effort is decreasing more and doing more sedentary life .As participate in physical activity of moderate intensity is important, it is not as critical to reduce and interrupt sitting time with light intensity activities. Large companies, MNC schools and the need to functionalize the workspace to allow more movement, or asset classes in the office and school. innovative initiatives to motivate people to get up and move that in turn can be beneficial to increase productivity, academic progress and the momentum economy are required.

Despite the growing awareness is making people adopt more ways to increase physical activity, the fact is that part most of the day sitting at the desk. These people face health risks after sitting for continuous periods of time. Exploring ways to divide the periods of inactivity (ie, rising from time to time) are becoming increasingly important.
