latent microtumors: cancer cells that we all carry with us

Most healthy people have precancerous cells called microtumors in your body. The food we eat daily is the key to preventing these cells from becoming malignant.

development of cancer cells

The more we learn more about cancer and stages of development of cancer cells, the more information we have about how to stop tumor growth and spread throughout the body.

Cancer is a very diverse set of diseases. Each different type of cancer involves different genetic mutations, produce different symptoms and creates diagnostic biomarkers. In fact, the diversity of cancer is one of the key features that makes the disease so difficult to fight effectively.

One similarity between most cancers is their way of progression of the cell, the trip takes a normal cell on its way to becoming a dangerous and malignant cell cancer.

pathway cancer progression

Stage 1 - A normal cell is damaged by some kind of carcinogen (cancer-causing substance). This process is called "initiation". The initiated cell is not a cancer cell, however, but now has the potential to become a cancer cell.

Step 2 - Most healthy people have begun cells in your body. Studies of people who have died from causes other than cancer, have shown 30-50% of women who have these latent microtumors in their breasts, 40% of men have latent prostate microtumors, and 98% people have latent microtumors in the thyroid 1 . In many people, these microtumors not become clinically detectable and dangerous tumors. But in others, if the environment is conducive to the body, the cell is promoted in a precancerous cell 2 .

Stage 3 - In step 3, the cell has become cancerous and is now capable of uncontrolled growth (malignant). Invade nearby tissue and grow new blood vessels around itself constantly (angiogenesis). These vessels feeding the tumor and allow it to be even bigger and more dangerous. At some point in this progression stage, the cancer cell can become metastatic, which means that the ability to spread to other tissues and organs in the body develops 3 .

Prevention of progression microtumors

The time it takes for Stage 1 cells to become Stage 2 can be very long cells, sometimes, the process may take decades. We can use this long latency period in our favor and work to prevent the initiated cells (microtumors) in our body to become precancerous.

nutraceuticals (food and medicine)

Scientific studies show time and again that the consumption of food containing compounds called phytochemicals, every day, can help prevent some cancers constant development (in step 1), and it can prevent cells from being initiated promoted precancer (in step 2).

Almost all fruits and vegetables contain phytochemicals that protect against cancer. Some of the most powerful examples include cruciferous vegetables (isothiocyanates), green tea (epigallocatechin-3-gallate), turmeric (Curcuma longa), tomato (lycopene) and citrus (flavonoids and carotenoids).

is vital that you eat a diet rich in these fruits and vegetables, as it will help to protect vulnerable cells in your body from damage and enter the path of cancer progression. These foods also help prevent cells that have been damaged (microtumors), progress to precancer.
