Lose Weight Like a Boss: Stories to inspire No. 4
this week "Lose Weight Like a Boss" story comes all the way from Scotland! Here I am typing away in Buffalo NY and someone in Scotland is reading - it's super cool to me. As I was putting together his story related to me a lot of things that she struggles with. It is not easy to lose weight when you like to eat.
Here is his story. You can read all the stories of weight loss here.
Name: Fiona
Age: 34
Can give us a vision of what you are:
I'm a career counselor working with school students. I am committed, no kids and I enjoy going to the gym, shopping and eating!
What was the Weight loss time-ha began in weight loss trip? When you started? What was your starting Weight
Christmas 2009 I think it was decided that the new year would begin a new weight loss travel so, it according to a strange logic I decided that if I was going back to weight loss in the new year will be better to make the most of this Christmas, so I think he ate and drank more than I have in my life !! The scales were dragged to 16stones (224 pounds) and was shocked. Then when I arrived ... He feared having a wedding invitation! I can honestly say I have never felt so ashamed and fat and it really was my 'that's it! "Moment. I joined Weight Watchers that summer and still go to meetings.
How Weight have lost today? Have you reached your meta Weight How long did it take you?
I lost 60 pounds currently, I am on my goal Weight although I'd be a little low for my wedding! it took me 3 years to get to there.
can you give us an idea in your day? What your meals seem? When you exercise and what type of exercise is your favorite?
So my day starts usually with a thread of thin bacon, toast and sometimes a banana and I have been adding in a shake, and he sees me through. I get a break mid-morning, so I could have fruit and yogurt. Lunches are usually one mason jar salad, homemade soup sometimes. I can go to the gym straight from work usually I have a banana and sometimes a cereal bar or almonds. Dinner is usually chicken and pasta, stir fries or fish - I love salmon
I go to the gym curves and love to chat with the girls, you do not feel like a time training. On weekends I like to go for a walk and my boyfriend and I are talking about going swimming on weekends.
Do you prepare your meals ahead of time? Can you give us an insight into your process?
This may sound strange, but I plan my meals on a Wednesday next week. I have my purchases delivered on Friday you need to know what you might have to ask. I do all my food preparation on a Sunday, chop, peel, wash and store. I have to do what I need for lunches and snacks. breakfasts and dinners that make as I go.
before preparing food.
Oscar help with food preparation.
after food preparation.
What "must buy" foods Do you buy every week?
definitely has to be fruit, which is my go-to fast food. Buy bananas, melons and grapes each week and have frozen fruit on hand as well. I also stock up on Greek yogurt, mini cheese (light) bel baby, chicken / ham / meat, vegetables and bread. I shop online so you can control what I buy and I am less impulsive!
What food is kept out of the house? Do you have trigger foods?
I have no control over the chocolate or cakes, if they are there I have to exercise extreme restraint to keep your hands away from them. I can not keep them out of the house so that I am not the only one living here, but try to have alternatives. So I have my own can of treatment Weight vigilantes in it bars. I also try and plan treats if I know I'm tempted. I also made the mistake of discovering something called Marshmallow Fluff .. OMG ate all the hot and could have gone ahead - same with Nutella. So I can not have that kind of things in the house ... Marzipan is my last meal of sin. Actually, this list could go on, but they are the main actors.
Can you share any favorite recipes?
I go for simplicity, they tend to adapt recipes if it seems too complicated. I buy jars or pesto sauces maybe make my own because I do not have the time.
What habit has made the biggest difference in your Weight path loss How to make the habit a part of your lifestyle?
I think that planning has to be the main habit that has helped me. I need to have a dinner planned for that night or if I'm not in the mood to cook it too easy to order take out or make a pizza. If you know there's something in the fridge for me to have no reason to think about other options. Just work on what is the best way for you to do, when to do and how to work around your week. As I said work on a Wednesday what I have in the next week when I am at work, what I'm doing at night and look to see what I have in the fridge / freezer and what I need. Another habit I have is if I'm eating out to try to check the menu before you go so you can decide what am having again and again avoid temptation when I'm there. It also allows me to work my day around what I'm eating out.
What was you biggest / challenge in the first weeks of her weight struggle loss trip? How you are pushed through? Probably the feeling that what myself a little treat, as some chocolate, okay and not see it as a failure. For a long time I've struggled with this concept of good and bad foods and guilt associated with it. I can now forgive me if I have a wee slip and do not necessarily give up. What is your biggest fight / challenge now?
I think now that I'm on my goal'm getting irrationally upset about my weight and is almost as if I forget how far we've come? When my bosses in the game a gain of 2 pounds is nothing to worry about, but when I feel vulnerable the end of the world. Since getting hooked I've been dealing with some confidence issues body I thought I had dealt with fat or skinny but I guess sometimes you will never be happy! I'm learning that perfection is not something looking like never going to make it, it's an impossible goal to achieve so instead I'm accepting what I am and learn to love myself. How has your life changed since losing weight
I feel this is the true self. This is the person who was always meant to be, I'm enjoying life and I am happier than I had ever felt. I made a promise to myself that when I reached my goal was to try to see if I could find love ... Something my car 60 pounds heavier always hoped, but I know that would never happen because you love someone who you do not love themselves? I regret that mindset, it's so sad! But maybe it was meant to be as I met Barry and are now engaged! I never thought I case, someone would have me a lot to ask me!
The organized skinny tip or a recipe that has made a difference in weight loss trip, if any?
There are two that stand out for me:
2) who wrote an article about 8 things to do before bedtime and I've been trying to do all of them! I've done some of them, but mostly I'm trying they are sure the house is in order before going to bed, it's great waking up to a clean kitchen!
If you can give a piece of Weight loss advice what would it be?
Start now! Do not wait until the right time, as it never comes. There will always be a birthday, anniversary, food outside, or another chance, but that's life and you have to learn to deal with these things all the time - you never have perfect one week so start now and see how you can change your options , order their environment and handle things that life throws at you.
What would you say to your heavier car?
You can do this! The result is amazing so go on, believe in yourself and make it happen. I really wish sometimes I could bottle what it feels like to be heavier again and every time I have an oscillation could just remind me how awful I felt myself!
Any other information you want to share?
I think the pressure of the "perfect look" for my wedding day had a very negative effect on me and, in particular, it was quite stressful to find a dress wedding. I had to stop, take a step back and just remember where he'd been, where I am now and I reassure myself that I am the person I want to be my boyfriend loves me no matter what and I'm much more than a number on the scale.
