Peanut butter homemade
Peanut butter is one of my sweets favorites. I eat it straight from the bottle for quick but healthy snack, spread on toast for a quick breakfast, and add shakes to add calories after a workout. I LOVE peanut butter!
However, not all peanut butters were created equal. Some store-bought brands are made with sugar and vegetable oils are cheaper than actually making them high in trans fats very unhealthy .
How to make peanut butter is easy when you use food processor - and if you do not like peanuts, you can use almonds or almost any other nut
placemakes two cups ingredients
- 2 cups (16 ounces) raw, shelled peanuts
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt, and the taste
- 1-2 tablespoons peanut oil
- 1-2 tablespoons honey (optional, for sweet peanut butter)
Method
- Heat oven to 350 ° F and toast the peanuts on a baking sheet until lightly browned and shiny with oil, about 10 minutes. Let cool.
- peanuts transfer to a food processor. Pulse a few times until chopped. For peanut butter, remove 1/2 cup chopped walnuts and set aside.
- Execution food processor continuously for 1 minute. Stop and scrape the sides and bottom of the cup. At this point, peanut butter, dry sand will be almost like couscous.
- Run the food processor continuously for one minute, then stop and scrape down the sides. At this point, the butter will start clumping together. Not quite peanut butter, but it's getting there!
- Run the food processor for a minute, then stop and scrape down the sides. At this point, the butter will be shiny and smooth, like peanut butter too thick.
- Sprinkle the salt, oil and sweetener on top of the peanut butter.
- Continue processing of the butter until it becomes completely smooth. homemade peanut butter will still be a little braver than peanut butter purchased in the store, but should be spread at this point. Taste and add more salt to taste. If you set aside some nuts peanut butter added now and pulse several times to incorporate.
- scrape peanut butter in an airtight storage container, cover and refrigerate. Peanut butter can be used immediately and will keep for several weeks in the refrigerator.
