How to eat this B.B.Q. Season!

Happy Canada Day, everyone! Also, I would like to wish our neighbors in South America at the end of a very happy Independence Day week too. I recently married a good kid, American, so I can get to have double celebrations this weekend! So much food in one weekend! These two holidays in North America marked the beginning of B.B.Q. season, which just happens to be my favorite season of the year eat!
Everything I've heard of patients during the last two weeks is how scared they are for Canada Day to launch three months of non-stop barbecues every weekend Thanksgiving between now and especially those who live in seasonal climates. We want to make the most of our holiday season, but do not want to cause major disruption to all the progress we have made with our health and diet in recent months. In today's blog we will talk about how to barbecue safely, and I'll share some of my favorite tips with you!
Only a dogfight, today's blog is long. Bare with me today. I'm doing for people with loss of time ...
Summer Chaos
summer chaos was the subject of my last group of long distance yesterday afternoon IDM . Almost all patients in that particular group joined the program last fall. Her children were at school. Vacation time was over and done with. They all live in seasonal climates so cold was starting out. it really slows down your social life to some extent. Much less people want to be driving through the city in a snowstorm or when it is -40 degrees outside. It is likely to have much more control over what you are putting in your mouth, and you'll eat at home more.
All these things are great for generating and feeding a steady routine. But what happens after the fall and winter? Summer! The children go to school. They have a billion and activities and parents are running around town like chickens with their heads cut. People want to enjoy the warm weather and take vacation time. You are stuck, either at home surrounded by food (I know all about that refrigerator calling your name) or you are with people who probably think that these things fast is ridiculous and you should eat 6 times a day like them. As the snow piles have also been cast, you want to go out and be social. Unfortunately, social often it means eating out. You are sick and tired of the interior walls of your home and wants out.
Every year I hear the same story summer causing chaos my patients to derail. They get so frustrated and feel that either have to choose between living or being healthy life, and what used to be his favorite season is now his least favorite. I have bad news for you - summer happens every year. What actually it happens every year. Your routine will go out the window. Your friends will want to be social and that is more likely to eat every summer for the rest of your life. What can be done to prevent you take 10 steps back each time the summer?
- You have to accept that you will eat more and be punished for it. As I said earlier, the summer will happen every year. Just make sure you are eating healthy and most importantly consciously . Take 15 seconds to look at what is in your hand or on your fork before placing it in the mouth. Stop and really, really look. Is it something to eat? Are you just having a stressful day because children who are pushing up the wall? Just they want to eat this particular issue because everyone around you is? Think about it. Half the problem is we eat without thinking about what we do not think about what happened in the mouth until it is in the stomach, and then feel regret. Stop and think about that last though he had? It was worth it in the long run?
- fasting on days down is necessary and skip meals here and there. You know you have leftovers family party on Sunday night that keeps on domestic refrigerator. You know that if you let them stay there your refrigerator is going to start getting full and things will start to go wrong make you sick. It is necessary to empty that baby! If you think you eat two dinners in one, and then try to jump another dinner in the coming days to make an effort to get rid of leftovers. There is really no excuse for not being able to skip a meal or two along the week. One of my patients on Tuesday about how he had spent three games last week and has three parts this week, and he just could not fast because of it. Three days a week still leaves the possibility of four days of fasting. It's simple math. And unless not well, ALWAYS Tuesday! How many Tuesday day or night parties you attend? Come now. ALWAYS Monday. Fasting at least once a week is a heck of a lot better than not fast at all throughout the week.
- Take advantage of good weather and social outings do not try to eat. My husband and I often go hiking instead of sitting at the dinner table every night. We arrived home from work, change and hit the trails. We can talk to each other about our day or anything else that normally talk over dinner to sit. We invite friends to come with us occasionally. There are so many festivals also at this time of year for you and your friends. Of course, there is food, but there is much more to see in these things too. If your spouse or friends are eating, there are a million other things going on to distract him. Also, my husband and I occasionally go for scenic drives in the evening time so we are not stuck in front of the TV watching food commercials every 3 minutes. Going outdoors and invite your loved ones to join along as well.
B.B.Q. Weather!
Now back to what you can eat ... My favorite season is B.B.Q. season because there are so many low-carb options!
My Top 5 Summertime B.B.Q tips and suggestions:
- Salad . It's hot and you really do not want to be eating a lot of hot dishes. This is a great time of year to experiment with making some salads out of the box and try different leafy green vegetables. There are so many of them: spinach, arugula, lettuce, kale, etc. They all know different, it really allows you to be creative with your salad. Mix in different fruits and nuts. Use things like cottage cheese whipped with some strawberries or other fruits, herbs or spices to make a very nice and fat salad dressing that is not oil and vinegar.
- fruit. consume a whole we can run into some problems. I know someone who broke me yesterday and told me about her binge eating cherry. Half of the time I feel like I'm a priest to hear confessionals patients, and the walls of my exam rooms IDM Clinic have heard much about the sins of cherry and mango in recent days. Making these fruits of their food. Add some berries for a salad. Mix some handle with a little sauce. That way you're getting a little of what you like, but not too much, and it is not snacking on the fruit, either. In fact, it is part of your meal.
- vegetables. You do not need potatoes or corn. Repeat potatoes or corn is not necessary. This is a great time of year for grilling and / or grill a lot of vegetables. Things like peppers, mushrooms, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, some grains and some carrots are great. You can roast eggplant slices and treat them as cookies. Burdening them with other vegetables, hummus or cheese. I love asparagus wrapped in bacon. I wrap everything in bacon. You can cut up raw vegetables and dip them in guacamole, hummus, different olive oils and vinegars, sour cream, sauces and mixes cottage cheese. Load them up with fat and cook or eat it raw!
- Avocados. always be that person to volunteer to bring guacamole to a party. It has safe bathing for vegetables. It covers an area of healthy fat meats like hamburgers. You can never go wrong with guacamole (unless you have high levels of potassium, then stay away from guacamole). I always pack a bag avocado also if I'm on the road and I'm not sure what will be served in these games.
- Hamburgers, hot dogs and sausages. First, there is no law that says that there are burgers, hot dogs and sausages must be consumed with a bun. We finished our burgers in lettuce (butter or Boston lettuce are my favorites for this). We finished hot dogs and bacon sausage (surprise, surprise). Second, it is so easy to add fat to these items, we load them with condiments like mayonnaise (olive oil or coconut oil based), mustard (one diabetic best friend), pickles, bacon, guacamole or avocado slices, some tomato, onion and a little cheese high in fat. If you can not eat these things without bread, try this low carb bread of diet doctor . It is definitely the best I've tried, and I tried to do them all. We did it for the first time two weeks ago and add some rosemary and salt on top of each bun. I thought my husband was going to mourn, I was so happy I found an alternative enjoyed.
- chicken and beef / beef First step :. butter, lard, butter. Add plenty of it. Add the different herbs to it. Rub the meat in it. Enjoy the way it melts in your mouth. Step Two: bacon, bacon, bacon, bacon. Wrap it all up in bacon. Step Three: slice up and make lettuce. You can add guacamole, vegetables, sauces, sour cream, cheese, nuts, etc. add more fat. We often have fajitas with lettuce instead of tortilla shells. We carry all types of fat, and incredibly filling.
- Whipping cream (35% + fat). Whip this stuff up! Add some pure cocoa and maybe one or two drops of pure vanilla, and place in the freezer. It tastes like soft serve ice cream. We actually prefer this to ice cream now because we can test all the sugar added unpleasant. Add in some fruits, nuts and seeds, and I assure you will not regret.
My Favorite Chocolate Recipe "Ice" Cream
Serving size: 2 servings
ingredients
- 1/2 cup heavy cream (at least 35% fat)
- 100% cocoa powder pure (optional - I like the milky chocolate, so I add a teaspoon If you like the darkest chocolate, add 1 tbsp.)
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract (optional)
- chopped nuts (optional - I like almonds and walnuts and add 12 each)
- berries (optional - I like the addition of 4 strawberries, raspberries 1/3 cup, 1/3 cup blackberries, blueberries and about 8, because they are higher in sugar)
- chia seeds and ground flax. (Optional - add 1/2 teaspoon of each)
- cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
- Add 1/2 cup cream in a bowl. Add in any vanilla or cocoa powder. Use a hand mixer on medium to whip the cream until creamy consistency. This usually takes about 2-3 minutes.
- Place the bowl of whipped cream in the freezer for 15 to 30 minutes. You do not have to freeze either. Freezing is only given a pleasant chill in a very warm day.
- Chop nuts and berries and mix with whipped cream. Add in any of chia or flax. Sprinkle with cinnamon.
Having a weekend safe and happy holiday!
Please eat and drink responsibly.
