Self-Care 101: Create your own meditation space home

Meditation is a practice of powerful, life-changing, and it is easier to integrate into their daily lives than it seems. Take my word for it: I started with simple applications (specifically, the program Headspace and OMG I Can Meditate application.!) I only have 10 minutes of my day. Just 10 minutes! Less time than spend scrolling through Instagram and emails in the morning, right?

Those daily 10 minutes (sometimes more!) Have already started to affect my daily life. Meditation, in the smallest amount, has improved my sleep, reduce stress, increase my ability to stay present and fought anxiety. It only takes a few minutes a day to start, and once it does, you are hooked on the feeling of calm and renewed.

Because it is so amazing (and easy!) Many people are beginning to create spaces in their homes meditation to deepen, improve, and further celebrate their practice. These become authentic sacred spaces where a person can come to clear your mind, find peace, and the passage of the feverish activity of life everyday - and that can be as small as a corner of his bedroom

like meditation is simple to start a meditation space is simple to create, and does not take much to start. However, you can also make it as elaborate as your heart desires peace lovers! Here are some tips to create a calm, centered corner of your home.

  • Choose the right space . You will have to be deliberate in choosing a space; ideally a place where it will not be affected. If you share a house or apartment, this could mean a corner of your room or office space if you have one. Something near the kitchen, living room, or any shared space open until disturbances (aka, roommates that bothers you, family running, the dog jumping on you ...) that interrupt your practice. Also consider lighting - one of my favorite tips headspace to be present in a practical (and not falling asleep) is to find a space with bright light. Can you find a place near a window? Or maybe if you are normally also alert and racing thoughts during practice. If you need more land, find a more subdued space.
  • take a seat . Need a chair or a cushion on the floor? Perhaps a yoga mat or blanket on the floor will do the trick. If you prefer a chair, choose a frame that will help maintain posture - its vertical position is crucial to be alert, present and in the moment. This could be a chair you already own or one you choose specifically for your new space.
  • Add soothing aromas . Create a peaceful environment with scent - this can be through incense, candles, oils or broadcast. Personally I love my oils diffuser , and use it for more than just meditation - I fall asleep with lavender, eucalyptus, rose oil or every night. Some oils and fragrances evoke certain emotions , moods and feelings, which can play an important role in meditation as well.
  • Get comfortable . Need pillow or blanket to accommodate the space? Maybe you want to create a mini station with soothing tea blends your favorites and a small auxiliary or shelf to put in writing his coffee table. Incorporating a tea in their practice, either before or after you start meditation, will help satisfy the senses, promote feelings of presence.
  • decorate! Choose soothing colors that bring you joy. For some, that means serene neutrals, and for others, it could mean bright yellow or blue. Try to incorporate something of the nature, whether that means a plant, fresh flowers, crystals, stones, seashells or - that will bring healing, relaxing your space properties. You can also use candles in this case to create atmosphere and mood lighting.
  • try to calm the sounds . While many people prefer to practice in silence, you may need some quiet meditation music or noises to block thoughts or noise from neighbors or housemates! For this, you can set a small speaker or have a place to connect your phone (just be sure to keep it in airplane mode so you do not bother!). Try these soothing sounds of our playlist meditation to start.

No matter what you choose to add to your space, remember that it is that ! You're doing something special for you a better person, so you can live a more healthy life less stressful happy. Choose your joy, and create space that is right for you.
