This is how you undo all your weight loss progress

You are eating healthy, you are exercising, and yet you are not losing weight. Why?

First question: How much to drink the night before? Last weekend? Last month? Alcohol may have a serious impact on your weight, creating a significant barrier in your weight loss journey.

What I have noticed with many women my age (20 years after college) is that the metabolism may slow down, but the lifestyle certainly does not. Overeating and drinking in bars every weekend combined with good hours in abundance during the week (and possibly a bottle of wine one night during a Netflix house bender) is the perfect storm of weight gain, and everything is part of the course when a young woman with a social agenda to carry. At that point, no matter how much kale you're eating or how many times you went to the bar; alcohol is ruining your weight loss progress. . . even your weight maintenance.

When a friend of mine asked, "How do you stay so thin after college?" I immediately knew that my answer would not be well liked -. "I do not really drink," was greeted with a particularly horrified expression of my dazed friend

Here's the thing: his body metabolizes alcohol before metabolizes other things , so this not only prevent you from processing what you've eaten (fats, carbohydrates, sugar, etc.), but also decreases your metabolism. Your body can not store alcohol (and is received as a kind of poison) so it is the first thing to be removed from your system.

fats and sugars that have been metabolized at that time neglected because your body is busy working out the alcohol. In other words, you are giving your body extra work to do, and over time, which is destroying your metabolism in general (ie: the ability to eat pizza and do not worry about it).

Another factor is liquid calories: you are significantly changing the consumption of calories without nutrition or satiety, so they are essentially empty calories. And thirdly, if you get drunk frequently, how often you are involved in drunchies? Is Taco Bell eating 2 a.m. (not judge)? How often?

We are in no way suggesting that eliminate alcohol from your diet (unless that's what you want to do!) But we are saying to be more aware of how much you're consuming, and what kind, especially if weight loss is the top of their list of priorities. Think about it: you're hitting frozen margaritas and mules Moscow over the weekend? Perhaps it followed by mimosas and Bloody Mary for lunch? You may want to consider what you are drinking, and switch to something lighter, or control your portions.

For me personally, I was not trying to lose weight, but the pounds began to fall when I cut alcohol consumption after college. Do I have to not to happy hour or a couple of drinks say at a concert? Heck no! I'll have a Bellini with my eggs Benedict on Sunday? Absolutely! But I do not seek out alcohol as my main activity and my social agenda does not revolve around alcohol, either. And you know what? I'm in better shape than I was still in college, I feel better and I am more able to enjoy the drink when I do not have one. If you are struggling to lose weight, consider how much you are drinking, and adjust accordingly.
